Oprah: A Biography [Hardcover] by Kitty Kelley
If you're considering Oprah: A Biography, Oprah's Family, I don't think you can go wrong in making the purchase.
"From Publishers Weekly
The tables are turned on Oprah Winfrey, as celebrity biographer Kelley digs deep to uncover the secrets of the talk show host and humanitarian. Kelley weaves her revelations from interviews with those who knew Oprah best--relatives, former lovers, and coworkers. Kelley's reading is inspired and professional, and her voice brims with remarkable selfassurance, making for a convincing presentation, despite the fact that this is an unauthorized biography. Although Kelly gets a bit breathy at times, she brings things back to the ground with a steady rhythm and energy. A compulsive (if slightly guilty) listen. A Random hardcover."

The Story of an Icon,
"To be honest, by the time I reached the end of this, I was tired of its subject and her wretched excesses. With all due respect to those who were offended by this biography - because it was "mean" - the fact is, an individual does not become the head of a media empire by being nice at all times, and Ms. Kelley documents the good, the bad, and the ugly of Ms. Winfrey's rise to the top. While giving generously to numerous good causes, Oprah sets exhaustingly high standards for her staff and associates, and the atmosphere at the top can be a reign of terror (though the author acknowledges that people are very well paid for the paranoia and fear). Overall, this was an enjoyable and informative book; I suggest that Ms. Winfrey's fans read only the authorized versions of her life, if they fear this will be offensive. "
Great Book - Well worth it.
"Great book! Well-written, fair and not nearly as nasty as I would have thought. Winfrey is a mega-giver and she has the right ideas, but she really has let the fame and money go to her head...It is sad to see someone turn into a brand when they were so great just as themselves. I admire much of what Oprah has done, but question many of her tactics. She is a great American and a great woman - but that has come at a price. "
